
History
PRSJ was formedin 1980 as a voluntary association through the merger of the PR Society of Japan (founded in 1964) and the PR Industry Association(founded in 1974). In December 1988, the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) recognized the PRSJ as a public non-profit corporation(aggregate corporation) a significant milestone in its history.
Members
PRSJ members consist mostly of public relations companies and public relations departments of business corporations. At the beginning of June 2009, 539 members consisting of 228 members of PR agencies, 227 members of PR divisions in corporations, 11members of government and association and 75 individual members.
Board of Directors
The Board of Directors consists of a president and three vice presidents, eleven executive directors and two auditors.
